Another tour with our friends from Turin for a new discovery of Paris

Daniele and Marina from Turin regularly come to Paris. We had the pleasure of doing a new Paris running tour together, a beautiful 18 km race in a rather cold Paris. This time, we explored the north of Paris (last February, we had covered 20 km around the Seine). Before venturing into the beautiful Montmartre, we passed by the rue de Turin 😉:   Who says Montmartre says mills, the “Moulin-Rouge” (a “fake” mill whose theatre is well known) and the “Moulin de la Galette”, composed of two authentic mills:   In Montmartre, we went to celebrate Marcel AymĂ©, here immortalized as the “Passe Muraille”, the hero of his famous novel. The statue was created by his friend, the actor Jean Marais, just in front of the writer’s house. Who remembers the inauguration of this work in February 1989? Exactly 30 years ago!   We made a detour to see the Clos Montmartre. The vines are sleeping under the snow this February. Come also in October to participate in the Clos Montmartre grape harvest festival (“La fĂȘte des Vendanges du Clos Montmartre”). On the occasion of the race “Les foulĂ©es du tertre 2008″, one of our guides on the podium was rewarded with one of the very narrow bottles of the Clos Montmartre (on the right of the photo). A little known and very rare wine, the vine having a small production…   And of course, the magnificent view of Paris:   We left Montmartre (downhill, it’s easier 😉) to reach the centre of Paris via beautiful covered passages:   Even if we still had a few kilometers to run, we took a short break to admire the beautiful church of Saint Eustache: Many thanks Marina and Daniele! We look forward to meeting again next year (or perhaps earlier).   If you too, you come to Paris, we will be very happy to run with you. Memories of 2017, very good moments with our visitors (3/3)

This last article in the serie reminds us some of the tours done end of 2017. Difficult to choose, we love all the tours we do with the runners who come to follow us. Here, we recall the tours made with Heidi, Angela, Nicole and Katherine from New York, end of September, with Sarah from England, beginning of October, with Alicia and Brooke from California and very recently, in the cold of December, with Jessica from Connecticut. Photos remind us of these good times. Photos and also some little curiosities…     On the way, some very Parisian surprises (our guides will explain to you all these curiosities which mark out our routes):           Sarah ran with us four times. It is always with a renewed pleasure that we share new aspects of Paris with this experienced runner:       At the beginning of November, we had the joy of running with Alicia and her daughter Brooke who came to join us a second time:       More recently, we welcomed Jessica. The cold of December does not scare the runners:       If you too, you come to Paris, we will be very happy to run with you. Round trip Montmartre-La Seine with Agnieszka

Agnieszka – Pont des Arts 6:50 AM – Agnieszka lives in Manchester (United Kingdom). During her stay in Paris, Agnieszka chose to live near Montmartre. For this morning tour, we decided to go southward to join the river Seine and return to Montmartre by finishing by a sports ascent towards the basilica of the “SacrĂ© CƓur”. On our way back, we crossed several mills: the “Moulin-Rouge” and the two mills which constitute the “Moulin de la Galette” (the “Blute-fin” and the “Radet”). Contrary to the “Moulin de la Galette”, the “Moulin Rouge” was never a real windmill, but from the beginning, a cabaret, this famous cabaret which saw the birth of the “French cancan” and which is always in service. These two windmills served to grind wheat but also to press grape to make wine. Formerly, Montmartre possessed numerous windmills. These two mills are the only remaining ones. Agnieszka – Moulin de la Galette (here the “Radet”) – Montmartre Gradually, the “Moulin de la Galette” was transformed into a cabaret. The ball of the “Moulin de la Galette” was famous and attracted numerous artists. Among them, Auguste Renoir, as witnesses his pictures: “Le bal du Moulin de la Galette”. Bal du moulin de la Galette, Auguste Renoir, 1876, MusĂ©e d’Orsay In Paris, works of art are not only in museums: the “Street Art” can be seen almost everywhere. See the one-way street sign behind Agnieszka on the photo near the Mill.Had you noticed this man who takes the white bar? Merci Agnieszka ! The route of the tour:
